El Albergue is nestled just off the train platform in Ollantaytambo. Its gardens, rooms, restaurant and organic farm provide a peaceful retreat for your trip to or from Machu Picchu. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is a great jumping off point for visiting many of the sites in the Sacred Valley (the ruins of the Ollantaytambo Fortress are just a short walk from the hotel). Be sure to ask about the eucalyptus wood fired sauna (it's complimentary and can be booked through the front desk). The Albergue also encompasses an organic farm (which provides food for their restaurant operations), a distillery (be sure to try the Caña Alta), and a coffee roastery. The staff is happy to set you up with a tour, worth spending an hour or two checking it all out. Be sure to book a traditional Pachamanca lunch on the farm for full experience (the lunch must be booked a day in advance). You won't be disappointed in the food or the experience.

We are not staying at this hotel, but read great reviews about the restaurant and our tour guide recommended it. It was absolutely amazing! The food and drinks were spectacular. Gerson, our waiter, was the BEST!!!!! If you go here, ask for him. Three of us had the Passionfruit(I can’t remember the Spanish name) Sour. It was delicious. My husband had the beer sampler,on recommendation from Gerson, and he loved it. I had the lasagna and it was fantastic. My mom had the vegetarian lasagna & it was incredible. My dad had the alpaca with chimchurri sauce & it was really good. My husband had the peanut sauce stew and it was very good! We had cheesecake for dessert and it was spectacular as well. Highly recommend dining here if you are in town. Again, ask for Gerson...he’s the best waiter!
Superb hotel on the station at Ollantaytambo. Our room overlooked the station platform where the trains leave for Machu Picchu. Wonderful experience. Great food in the restaurant. Wouldn’t have missed the experience.
